MEET RACHEL VANDERVELDE

Hi, I’m Rachel, and I’m so honored you’re considering me to capture your family’s story here in Valparaiso, Indiana.

I’m a mother of four (with another on the way), a postpartum nurse, and a newborn & family photographer. Caring for babies and supporting families during those first tender days isn’t just part of my job—it’s something I’ve built my life around.

As a mom, I know how quickly it all changes. One moment you’re memorizing every tiny detail—those little fingers, soft cheeks, sleepy stretches—and before you know it, they’re growing into the next stage right in front of you.

That’s why these moments matter so much.

The newborn phase is especially close to my heart. Those early days are raw, beautiful, and fleeting. My goal is to gently preserve them for you—so you can hold onto the feeling long after it’s passed.

But it doesn’t stop there. Every season of motherhood holds something worth remembering—from first steps to big, joyful personalities filling your home with laughter.

Through my work, I aim to create images that feel like you—natural, meaningful, and full of connection.

When you step into a session with me, you’re not expected to have it all together. I’ll guide you every step of the way, creating a calm, comfortable experience for both you and your baby.
